The American multinational corporation, Microsoft Corporation announced the appointment of Satya Nadella as the new Chief Executive Officer of the corporation. Nadella is a former Cloud and Enterprise Head with Microsoft, will cloud services play a big role in the company’s future bearing in mind his last position in the company. He also has master’s degrees in business administration and computer science.
In a way of presenting himself to Microsoft employees as the new CEO, he sent a mail to Microsoft Employees and below are 5 lessons that any business or individual can learn from the email.
1. Foundation Matters, then Learn New Things
Nadella believed Microsoft has the right foundation in place to take the company to the next phase of technoloy and innovation. Every business should endeavour to build a solid foundation in terms of sustainability of the business, the needed man-power among others.
“If you are not learning new things, you stop doing great and useful things.” Satya in the email said he buys more books than he can finish, register for more online courses than he can complete.
2. Build platforms and ecosystems for broad opportunity
The aim of any brand should be to building platforms and ecosystems that create broad opportunity both for the business or brand and its users.
3. Do more
Initiatives by start-ups and companies should be able to help users to get stuff done while also having fun, socialising and accomplishing great things. Not the likes of sticky notes that encourages procrastination in some cases. “We need to prioritize innovation that is centered on our core value of empowering users and organizations to ‘do more.’”
4. Clarity of Purpose with the right elements
Every company and individual should have a mission statement to serve as a guide in the day to day activities of the business. The necessary elements required to change the world according to the new Microsoft Boss are talent, resources and perseverance. However, management and coordination of the three elements are of paramount importance.
5. Not just the work, it’s value
