MTN Group Clinches on Etisalat SmartHub For Regional Network Expansion
Telecommunications services in the Middle East and Africa are about to experience wider reach, this following the partnership between two giant operators towards expanding network reach in the region.
Information reaching us revealed that MTN Group has entered a partnership with Etisalat in a bid to make use of Etisalat SmartHub for an advanced data network capabilities.
The SmartHub, a global communications hub which facilitates direct routing of traffic between the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, is the region’s largest capacity, content, internet and data hub in Middle East provides regional access to global service providers and global access.
SmartHub have advanced content, IPX, IX and high speed data services as services its offering for Etisalat’s customers in the United Arab Emirate. And MTN Group would be connecting via a new route to Europe which will favour its customers in the Middle East.
Commenting on the partnership, Executive Vice President, Carrier & Wholesale Services at Etisalat, Ali Amiri expressed Etisalat’s delight for having a big brand like MTN joining the SmartHub community of operators and content providers. “SmartHub is designed to provide our partners with a one stop shop for connectivity to the region.”
Amiri also said that the partnership is an affirmation of the importance of SmartHub. The two parties are looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship and enhancing customer experience.
On her part, MTN Group Chief Technology and Information Officer, Jyoti Desai affirmed that Etisalat’s SmartHub is an important hub towards expanding MTN’s world class global mutli-service network and that it would allow MTN to provide advanced communication services to customers within Middle East and Africa. “The rising significance of UAE’s strategic position as the communication network hub for the Middle East and Africa region underpins the importance of this partnership in our expansion plan.”
